

On Saturday, Sept 14, Joan Elizabeth Wahl, passed away at the age of 87. Joan was one of 7 children born in Cincinnati, OH, to Aloysius and Helen Kickel. She moved to California as a young adult and soon met the love of her life, Anthony Duane Wahl. They were married June 2, 1962 in Riverside, CA and raised 5 children.
Joan’s life was guided by her faith and devoted to her family. She enjoyed being a supportive wife and mother, never wanting to be in the spotlight, but always playing a big role in the success of others. She wasn’t the coach, but helped her husband greatly, allowing him to coach all their children’s swimming, soccer, baseball, and basketball teams. Joan encouraged her children to pursue their dreams and goals, always offering strength, wisdom, and guidance in all they pursued.
Joan’s sense of humor was a treat, always lightening challenging times and providing comfort and support to all her family and friends. Duane and Joan truly and deeply loved each other for 55 years, enjoying nothing more than time together doing simple activities like going for a drive through the mountains enjoying each other’s company all the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, and the love of her life, Duane Wahl. She is survived by 2 sisters, Millie and Margie, two daughters, Kathy and Anita, three sons, Terry, Kenny, and Andy, and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren,
A funeral mass will be held in Chico, CA at Our Divine Savior Catholic church on Nov. 14 at 10am. A gravesite blessing and interment will follow at Magalia Cemetery located at 6764 Magalia Cemetery Rd, Magalia, CA 95954.
