1919 - 2014
Mary was born June 3, 1919 in Millville, CA to Robert and Edith Bartell. She was the youngest of her 5 siblings.
She graduated from Shasta High School. In 1942 she married Anton (Tony) Anderson from Sweden. Together they had three daughters, Hulda McAuliffe, Lynnea Mason and Kristin Cunningham.
Mary started her career in the Anderson Post Office. She later went back to school and graduated from the LVN program at Shasta College in 1966. Mary was an LVN at Shasta General Hospital in Redding.
She retired in 1985. She returned to work as a nurse in 1988 and continued nursing until she retired at the age of 85.
Mary was an avid traveler, cake decorator, baker, seamstress and had many other hobbies. If you were married in Shasta county within the last 50 years, chances are she made your cake! Even though her cakes were some of the best, she would tell you her greatest accomplishment was her family. She has 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. However, many -many more in the community counted her as their grandmother!
A service will be held on July 7th at 11:00 at the Faith Reformed Church in Anderson to celebrate Mary's life. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be named in Mary's name at the Faith Reformed Church on Rupert Road in Anderson, California.
