Mary Jane Slater

Mary was the daughter of Alpha and Guthrie Sharpe. Mary was the loving and devoted wife of Gary Slater, and together they shared a life full of love and memories. She was also a cherished sister to Brenda, Georgette, and Jeff, whose bond she treasured deeply. Mary was a loving stepmother to Robert and Larry Slater.

Mary was known for kindness and compassion towards everyone and all animals. Her life was enriched with loving friends and family. Mary was known for her wild parties, gardening, and love of cats and music. She was well known as the neighborhood “Grandma” and devoted her time to the neighborhood kids. Her home was a sanctuary of comfort, love, and delicious meals, where everyone was always welcomed with open arms.

Mary proudly served her country in the United States Navy, where she attained the rank of E-3 as an Aviation Storekeeper. She attended Boot Camp in Florida and served for 2.5 years at the Naval Air Station in Alameda, California, where she contributed to the mission with dedication and pride.

All who knew her will remember her strong sense of duty, compassion, and vibrant spirit. Mary’s love for her family, her service to her country, and her enduring kindness touched the lives of many.

She will be laid to rest at Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA with full military honors. Her funeral will be on March 7th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Mary will forever be missed and remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
