

Melva was born Nov 10, 1924 in Westwood, Ca. She was raised in Westwood and after graduating from high school in 1942 moved to Sacramento where she met the love of her life, Vernon Russell. They both loved music and spent almost every weekend dancing to all the big bands. They were married on Jan 26, 1943 and shared 67 years together before he passed away earlier this year. They moved to Anderson, Ca. in 1952 where they raised their family.
A devoted wife and mother, Melva enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family. There were many camping trips over the years. She spent her career working for the US Forrest Service and retired in 1986.
Melva is preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her parents, Aubrey and Alvina Staten, her sister Sharon Abersold and her son-in-law Don Delgado. She is survived by her three daughters; Carol Duncan and her husl:1and Robert of Portland, Oregon, Pam Russell and Bruce Watkins of Redding, Ca. and Sherrie Delgado of Turlock, CA. Her 4 grandchildren; Dawn Barni and her husband Dino, Gina Grecian, Mike Delgado, Angela Delgado and her husband Troy. She will be missed by all, especially her great grandchildren, Cody, Ethan, Mariah, Makel, Aria, and Kaeden.
There will be a service at Lawncrest Memorial Chapel on Oct. 16th at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Melva's honor to Alzheimer Research.
