

In fulfillment of his greatest desire, ouir father, Nestor A. (Erick) Erickson passed from this life into the presence of his heavenly father, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Shasta Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by his children who lovingly sang him Home.
Dad was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Nestor, Sr. and Bertha Erickson on June 14, 1926. He graduated from high school in Deadwood, SD and entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a Gunner's Mate in WWII (1944-1946) on the island of Guam.
Returning to his hometown, he met and fell head-over-heels in love with Betty M. Haas. He confidently told his buddy, "That's the girl I'm going to marry!" They were married June 22, 1947 in Deadwood.
Upon moving to Anderson, CA in 1948, his father-in-law, Francis Haas secured a position for Dad at Ralph L. Smith Lumber Co. (Later Kimberly Clark and Roseburg Lumber). Dad was employed as both a machinist and plant supervisor, retiring in 1988. Dad could build or repair anything. He enjoyed teaching several semesters of welding courses at Shasta College in the early 1970s. Dad was a talented artisan and crafted beautiful pieces of art which are treasured items of heirloom quality. Dad also spent many happy mornings on the Tucker Oaks Golf Course and loved the crew and his golf buddies.
For 50 years, our parents served faithfully at First Baptist church (now Crossroads Bible Fellowship) in Anderson. Dad was passionate about teaching his adult Sunday school class and also served as an elder at Anderson Community Church where his nephew, Les Baugh, is pastor.
Dad leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Betty; children: Sandra Sprague (David), Wayne Erickson (Jana), and Karen Erickson; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sisters, Dorothy Kessler and Verla Cisneros and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Nestor is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Archie Cosgrove.
