Dorothy Jane Giles

Dorothy Jane Giles, age 91, a lifetime resident of Detroit, MI, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the home she shared with Robert and Willow Giles in Albion MI. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Frank Brennan, Robert (Willow) Giles, Ronald (Kimberly Martin) Giles, and Richard (Sonya) Giles; her twenty-one grandchildren; her forty-seven great-grandchildren; her nine great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Jan Dale; and her two nieces.

Dorothy was born May 27, 1933, in Detroit. She devoted her professional life to a long and successful career with the City of Detroit and then Wayne Count Deeds and later as a court reporter and executive secretary. Dorothy held court reporting positions in various courts throughout Wayne County for many years. She took an administrative role as a secretary for her son Ronald’s law firm. Dorothy loved to work and continued until her retirement in her late seventies.

In her free time, Dorothy could always be found enjoying a cocktail with one of her best girlfriends, (Lillian, Beverly and Joyce Ann) or enjoying a trip to the casino, or visiting her brother, James out in Arizona. She treasured the time spent with her family and friends who meant so much to her. She was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, James Dale, and her grandmother, Cecillia Dodd.

In accordance with Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 25450 Plymouth Road, Redford, Michigan 48239. Dorothy’s family invite guests to join them in a Sharing of Memories Ceremony at 2:30 pm
