Duane Bear Elmer Carlson

He was the beloved husband of Marilyn for 60 years. Loving father of Diane Matanzas (Steve) (Jose), Darlene Wilson (Larry), Stephen (Beth), Joe (Bobbie), Doug, and Ann-Marie. Dear "Pa Pa" of Joel Kristofer Matanzas (Rachel), Philip Carlson, Chelsey Carlson, Jade & Mackenzie, Eric Wilson (Nicole) and Jennifer Nelson (Jim). Great-Pa Pa of Kyle Matanzas, Hannah Wilson, Jacob Wilson and Owen Nelson. Step-great-grandpa of Kyle & Trevor Nelson. Survived by his step-mother Effie Carlson and his brother Denton Carlson (Judy). Predeceased by his father Elmer Carlson.

Duane was an Engineer and Modeler for Ford Motor Company. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 happy years of service.

The Funeral Service, led by Reverend Mark Raitz, will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 also at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home - Redford Chapel.

Duane will be laid to rest in Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Michigan.

My father was our rock he was devoted to each and everyone of us. He helped us in every way possible. He taught us self worth and the importance of being our own person. Growing up you think your family is just like everyone elses. As we've grown older we realize our family was not the norm, but very unique. Like other families we have our differences, but due to loving parents that taught us, by example, that your family is your greatest treasure. We have all remained bonded to one another in a way that many families couldn't imagine. This is my parents legacy. I hope they are as proud of us as we are of them. I know you will always be with us watching over us, as you always have. We will miss seeing you, but have great comfort knowing you are in a better place smiling on all of us. We will speak of you often, keeping your memory alive, our future generations will know of the wonderful man from which they came. Talk to you tomorrow, Dad
