Marge had a long and full life, happily married for 74 years to her surviving husband Harry Berendt and raising four children, Jerry (Donna) Berendt, Debbie (Robert) Militzer, Mary (Chris) Boyd, and Craig (Sharon) Berendt. Grandmother and Great Grandmother to Aaron & Amy (Maddie) Berendt, Nathan (Jackie) Berendt, Matthew Berendt, April (Kalise, Kiera) Militzer, Emily (Lucas) Hollister, Abby Militzer, Evan & Erin (Layla) Boyd, Noel & Lara Boyd, Jesse & Dayna (Levi, Benjamin, James, Della) Boyd, Reece Boyd, Alec & Sarah (Ethan, Brooke) Berendt. Marge is preceded in death by her sister Doris McCalpin.
Marge was a wonderful homemaker and we have to mention she was a very meticulous museum quality housekeeper – fingerprints received detention! Once the children left the nest she later worked with Harry in the front office their family-owned business at Duo Collision for a number of years before they retired in July 1988. Both Marge and Harry loved to travel up north to a cottage on Suttons Bay every summer – it is a very peaceful & scenic area. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word games, and always had a good book to read. She loved to garden, planting colorful flower landscaping around her home.
Marge was a devout Catholic and heaven is a better place (probably cleaner too) with her joining the Lord! We were most certainly blessed to have her in our lives. Her love, positive outlook, good sense of humor, and nurturing nature will be greatly missed. We love you very much and our hearts will carry you forever till we meet again.
A private family memorial will be held in her honor on May 17, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared in the guestbook below for the Berendt family. To leave a message please select "Add a Memory".
