Rose Marie Steczek was born in Detroit, Michigan to Henry and Laura Whitmer. She was one of 12 children. Rose passed away peacefully, under the gentle care of Beaumont Hospice in Dearborn, Michigan, on June 23, 2016 at the age of 81.
Rose was the beloved wife of Walter. Loving mother of Dean (the late Mary) Steczek, Genevieve "Sis" Steczek, Glen Steczek, and the late Paul Steczek. Mother in law of Daniel Christine. She will also be missed by her grandson's Michael (Beth) Steczek and Christopher Steczek and 4 great-grandchildren: Tayla, Alaina, Lila and Ethan.
Rose was a life long resident of Detroit. She loved all of her many dogs. Rose enjoyed music, especially Elvis, Johnny Horton, Frankie Laine and Mario Lanza. She loved anything with bright, beautiful colors. She would always stop and marvel at churches and beautiful flowers, teaching her children to appreciate simple, God given beauty.
Her children say that she taught them "How to forgive". Rose lived what she spoke by giving unconditional love to her family and showed extreme kindness to anyone she came in contact with, regardless of how they treated her. There was no such thing as "half siblings" or "step-family" Rose considered everyone her family no matter what. Her love, support, and generosity was boundless.
Her family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 3-7pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 25450 Plymouth Road (Just east of Beech Daly) Redford, MI 48239. The evening will conclude with a funeral service, led by Father Jack Baker, at 7:00pm.
Rose will be laid to rest privately in St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
Please leave her family a message of condolence or share a memory in the guest book.
