William Harry Pierce

William Harry Pierce was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 16, 1959. He passed away suddenly in Detroit, Michigan on April 24, 2017 at the age of 57. Dear son of Harry R. (the late Catherine) Pierce and Mary Joan (the late Joseph) DuPraw. Brother of Mary (Wes) Dietrich, Anne (Ron) Hartsell, Margaret (Dave) Gordon, Stephen (Linda) Pierce, Dr. Catherine (John Imhoff) Mortier, and Charles Pierce. Uncle of Christina Hartsell, Sarah Hartsell, Erin Gordon, Blaine Dietrich, Kim Dietrich, Jacob Pierce and Mia Mortier.

William was known as "Bill" and sometimes called "Handy". He was a Navy Veteran, serving his country from 1982-1986. During his service, he was a Fireman, Electrician First Class, and worked with nuclear instrumentation, on US Navy ships. Following his honorable discharge he worked as a maintenance worker at St. Christine Christian Outreach Center in Detroit where he had many dear friends that gave him the name "Handy". Bill was an animal lover and enjoyed the companionship of his dog Dutch.

The family will receive guests for a visitation on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 5-8pm, with a Scripture Service and time for sharing, led by Deacon Rudy Piro, at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 25450 Plymouth Road (Just east of Beech Daly) Redford Township, Michigan 48239. Bill's life will be celebrated with a Mass, led by Father Henry Rebello, at 10:30am on Saturday, May 6, 2017 (Gathering to begin at 9:30am) at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church 25700 Six Mile (At Beech Daly) Redford Township, Michigan 48240. Bill will be laid to rest with Committal Prayers led by Deacon Ron Vadar, at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
