I know Cezar and his family for 25+ years. We were colleagues at Facultatea de Automatica si Calculatoare Iasi Romania and share so many college memories. After college graduation, we've settled in our jobs locally in Iasi and kept in touch. I vividly remember meeting with him just days before his move to US. We talked about how will be for him working at Microsoft and about our families, especially the kids, as my first son was 2 years old and his daughter just born. 2 years later, in 1997, when I also moved to US, Cezar had so many good advices for me on how to settle in the area and find a job. I never celebrated Thanksgiving until then and Cezar and Catalina invited me to celebrate with them and all of our other friends from the area. Over the years, our families friendship deepened into what we are calling the local "extended family" formed by our small community of friends, thousands of miles away from our native places and relatives. Our families spent together houses warming, younger kids born, birthday parties, Christmas caroling, yearly get-together at Orcas Island, Easter celebrations, kids soccer games, adults soccer games, helping fundraising and building the church, hikes, graduations, weddings, tennis championships! Thank you and rest in peace Cezar, you are already missed! 

Sometimes you do not realize what you have until you loose it. Neither Loredana nor I have siblings, but I think Cezar was as close as it gets to being one. For the past 27 years we shared so many moments in life. We came together to the US, we discovered together what it meant to live and work here, our social security numbers were almost consecutive, we had the same first car, we helped each other move, we became citizens together, we worked together for the same company for 20 years, we saw our children being born, he baptized our youngest, we saw them growing up, we celebrated birthdays, we shared vacations, we played tenis, we played bridge, we shared successes and we shared worries. It is very hard not to see him  every week and we are grateful that we had him in our lives.

Drum lin, Cezar. A fost un privilegiu sa te cunoastem. Iti multumim pentru toate clipele minunate si pentru sufletul tau generos. 

Cezar was so good at being present. Whether he was in the heat of competition or redirecting a conversation that was on its way to becoming an argument, he was fully invested and in tune with people around him. He constantly recognized the important things many take for granted. Most every time I saw him at a gathering or celebration I would say: ‘Hey Cezar, how are you doing?’ To which he would respond: ‘Just grateful to be here, man. Grateful to see all of you. Grateful to be together.’  He considered multiple perspectives before taking a side. He was quick to ask questions and, consequently, it was very difficult to bullshit him. He was an incredibly loving person and, in turn, was easy to love. 
Be present. Be grateful. Consider perspectives. Question. Love. This is a mantra I repeat to myself at times, especially when I feel lost or anxious. These words help ground me because they remind me of the actions I believe are most important in life. They are something to aspire to. Cezar embodied all five of these actions. I think that is extremely rare in a person. Love you and miss you, Cezar.


I started off as a colleague of “Mr. C” and worked with him for a number of years and became good friends. We worked together on various things, shared lots of banter, and enjoyed lunches or a couple of beers where I was kept up to date on his family, sports, fishing, and whatever else seemed interesting at the time.  He had such remarkable work ethic, positivity, and a great sense of humor.  He left Microsoft before we could fully determine whom was at fault for the mediocre speaker scores of our Tech Ready presentation, but we still remained in regular contact and the laughs continued. I will miss his friendship. The world was truly a better place with him and wish we all had more years with him but cherish the ones we had.  My deepest condolences Catalina, Ioana, and Alex.

I'll never forget the wonderful and entertaining speech that Cezar gave at our wedding. Michelle and I have very fond memories of that day and Cezar's role in helping to make it so memorable.

Cezar is our dear friend forever. He picked us from the airport when we came to US, he and Catalina helped us in the relocation time, he was the first person to answer our questions about the new place. We lived next door; our kids grew up together. Along the years, Cezar touched every aspect of our lives: family, work, community, parties, vacations, sports, etc. He was a born leader, everybody’s friend, the person to rely on. In recent years, we got a new connection with Cezar through tennis. The competitions, the practice with or without boombox, the discussions, the beer after…He was the person to go to when I wanted to talk about our tennis team’s strategy. Always passionate, charismatic, 100% involved and very sharp. This was Cezar. We will miss you so badly, dear friend. You’ll stay in our hearts forever. We’ll be here for your family.

Inimi frinte, suflete zdrobite, s-a stins zimbetul luminos... Ne vom ridica insa din praful drumului stirnit conducindu-te pe ultimul drum si vom continua. Vom continua sa iti iubim familia, prietenii, sa imbratisam cu optimism incercarile vietii, sa traim aventurile ivite asa cum ti-ai fi dorit, sa nu ne lasam complesiti de durere. Si sa zimbim. Asa ai fi vrut sa continuam. Drum lin Cezarica! 

I grew up going to Romanian parties with Cezar. He was always the biggest joker and so charismatic... just a pleasure to be around. He also made the best mamaliga! I grew up seeing him as the anchor of the Romanian community and I can't imagine going to party without him. 

When my husband and I got married, Cezar gave a speech on behalf of the Romanian community. He will always hold a special place in our heart. We were very saddened by the news that he had passed away and we hope that his family knows how loved he was. 

I learned many things from many places but one thing I learned for sure from Cezar: there are no problems just opportunities. It is hard and too painful to see the opportunity right now.  I'm sure we're going to find out the learnings. I only wish we could find them together. Godspeed my dear friend wherever you might be!

Cezar touched us all with his kindness and unconditional friendship. I feel so blessed having Cezar in my life… It was a joy and privilege being around him, be inspired by his positivity and optimism. I will miss him dearly. 

Cezar was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely curious and interested in other people. He would want to know more about you, and he always displayed his signature smile, ready to make a playful joke, put you at ease and make your day better. He loved people, and above everything else he loved his family. He had so much more to give to his family and to the community. I’m really sorry for your loss! May God bless you and comfort you  in this difficult time!

Cezar, your infectious smile always spread a happy cheer in Microsoft Building 30 hallways and kitchens. I often told you that you resembled my dad a lot when he was a young man and that amused you a lot. I worked alongside Cezar from 2000 through 2003.  I was so impressed by way he led his test team and how he interacted with his 
peers.  He was a friend to all - a true gentleman.  He was honest, organized, and effective.  He worked for the good of all, not just himself.   My heart goes out to his family.  His passing is great loss for not only for you but for us all.

We had the privilege to have Cezar part of our lives since we moved to US in 2006. It is difficult to describe in words what Cezar meant to us and the impact he had in our lives: Cezar was the life of the party, always encouraging and positive, bringing us together and pushing us to be our best. Cezar's smile and love for life was contagious. At parties, when it was about dancing and having fun, he made sure to get everyone involved. His big smile and positive energy could bring anyone off their seats and onto the dance floor for a great time.

Cezar’s sudden death hit all of us, unexpectedly and made us look at life in a different perspective: life is not always fair;  If this tragic event has taught us anything, it's that we must cherish every moment and every person in our lives as we will never know when it will be the last time we will see someone.

Cezar was our friend, our son's coach and a role model for all of us. We are grateful to have had Cezar in our lives and us and our kids will miss him deeply.

"Amazing" and " Good effort" - these are the words that will always remind us of Cezar.
For him, everything was amazing and because of that, everything became amazing for us too. He had a natural ability to make every situation remarkable and exiting.

" Good effort" - that was his way of saying : I am here to help and we will not give up. All of us knew when Cezar was saying that, we need to try more, we have to do better.

This is how he touched our lives, in a subtle and sensitive way.

I am so saddened by the news that Cezar is no longer with us.  I had the pleasure to work alongside with Cezar at Quantarium. He was kind, full of energy and always always had a smile on his face. His contagious laughter could be heard outside the meeting rooms when walking by. He would bring bagels and different flavors of cream cheese for breakfast for everyone many times a week. Cezar’s outgoing personality, sense of humor and boundless joy will be sorely missed! 

Some of my favorite memories with Cezar came from our indoor soccer team. Cezar was the ultimate captain and emotional leader — talented, disciplined, charismatic, passionate, and team-first. His leadership motivated me to play hard for the win, but more importantly, to make him proud and maybe even receive a compliment (he had high standards). My favorite part about being his teammate was that whether we won or lost, he always brought his contagious smile and outgoing personality to the postgame beers.

Cezar was unique in that he was a role model for so many people regardless of age or setting. He was somebody that everyone held in high regards and had so much respect for. One way I know this is because my dad never buys tickets to a game without first consulting Cezar to see what he thinks. 

I am so lucky to have grown up alongside Ioana and Alex and to have had Cezar and Cata support me throughout my life. His positive impact on myself and so many others will be everlasting. We love you and miss you Cez! 

It's a shock to learn that Cezar is not with us anymore. I worked with Cezar during my SFB days. During tense customer escalations, Cezar was always smiling and had a calm composure. Cezar always joked around to lighten the mood.  I will never forget his infectious smile and the positive attitude he brought along. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to your family. I met Cezar every year during youth recreational fall soccer.  Our Alex's played in opponent teams; Cezar was the coach. I can't stop smiling at the memory of him walking up and down the field, totally engaged with the game, encouraging every player, not only from his team. He was exceptional, good and carrying. The other memory of him is working help set up the church's picnic. He was The Volunteer, the person you can always count on. He was cracking jokes making all of us laugh. So, when I think of Cezar, I smile. Drum bun spre stele Cezar. You will always be in our hearts. 

Cezar's passing is such an unexpected and unfair loss. We've only met a few times but we shared the common experience of new comers into the "new world" in 1995, from the same city in Romania. His smile is unforgettable, somewhere between enquiring and knowing that he's got the answer in the back of his mind. Loving father, brother, husband, uncle. Rest in peace, Cezar, the world is really a better place since you helped so many folks along the way! Deep condolences to the family!

I was fortunate to have met Cezar in the good old OCS days at Microsoft.  He always had a positive attitude about everything.  One of my favorite memories of him was when I tried to convince him (jokingly but with a straight face) that soccer was not a good sport, because after all - it could end in a 0-0 tie.  He didn't know I was joking, so he went to great lengths to explain to me how even a 0-0 tie ballgame could be very interesting and exciting.  He finally knew I was joking and laughed big time when I explained that the "athletes" of baseball were in far better shape than soccer players. :)   My condolences to his family and friends

Cezar was such a bright soul and he will be dearly missed, gone much too soon. He always saw the positive in everything and was so cheerful. It was hard not to have a good time when with him. Over all the memories we have of him we will always remember his smile the most. From grilling with his friends and taking breaks to play ball with the kids, to spreading holiday cheer at Christmas parties, he was always had a smile on his face and lived in the moment. You will be heavily missed.

I learned this shocking news just now and still couldn't believe Cezar is not with us anymore. I worked closely with Cezar during my Skype days.  When we had difficult challenges, he was the one who always brought in great ideas and big smiles. I loved the days we travelled together, and those relaxing dinners. Thank you for everything you have done for all of us. Good-bye my dear friend. My deepest condolence to your wonderful family. RIP.

Dear Cezar, You were the Link glueing our Lync team together building amazing products and experiences. Your effervescent smile and always can-do attitude motivated all of us and made it so much fun to be at work! Off work, you were a great friend to us enjoying many a soccer game, hike and beer. The news of Cezar passing away saddened me tremendously. Cezar and Catalina welcomed us to US when we moved from Canada 22 years ago, we have never forgotten that... Furthermore, I had the privilege to closely work with Cezar for a few good years and get to know him even better. His dedication, can-do attitude, his willingness to help and his smile were always uplifting. 
Along the years, we had a chat once in a while as life took us on different paths, but even after so many years, I'm still fond of the memories from the time we worked together.

Cezar, It is hard to believe that you are no longer with us. I'll remember the smile, the can-do attitude, and the positive energy you brought. I cannot fathom the pain and loss your family is feeling right now - my deepest condolences to them and wish them the strength to cope with the loss of a great person.

I’ll share a mental image of Cezar with you, as a salute to him. I think many will recognize it, and if you smile thinking of that moment, I am sure Cezar would've loved nothing more.
We’re all together in someone’s home, we’re celebrating something, or perhaps just celebrating being together as friends. On such occasions, Romanians always gather around food and drinks. On the stove, water is boiling for a Romanian stapple "mamaliga" and this one’s so huge it can feed one hundred people.
Next to this pot is Cezar; somehow he’s always taking on this difficult task. I believe it gives him a great joy to continue a tradition and to feed us all. I am looking at Cezar, through the steam coming out of this pot, with the yellow cornmeal bubbling. Today there must be a big crowd, as Cezar stirs two pots at the same time, with a big smile on his face and eyes sparkling.
“Whatcha doin, is it going to be good?” I am asking him, or one of you is asking.
“Good? It is going to be great, even better, it will be amazing!” we already knew the answer, but we ask so that we can hear Cezar say it.
"amazing" - that is how things always were with Cezar. He didn’t know half measures, when he was in, he was present with all his being. This is how I knew him as a colleague, as a friend, as a parent. Somewhere he found extra positive energy to share with those around him, to get us moving, to get us to believe, to do beautiful things, to solve problems.
If we would’ve grown old together as friends, I know the rest of the story would’ve been just as amazing from here on. It is for him to be forever young (“tinerete fara batrinete”) and it is for us to keep on going and remember to live in same spirit. To be as much of a family to his loved ones as much as friends could be.

No matter what circumstances we faced at work, Cezar always had a positive attitude and tried to figure out the best way to solve our issues. The news of Cezar's passing deeply saddened us as the Turkish community at Microsoft. We wish Cezar's family and his loved ones peace and comfort at this time of sorrow. 


Most of us were colleagues with Cezar from the late nineties and throughout his twenty-year tenure at Microsoft. But, more importantly, we were opponents on the soccer fields at the Microsoft campus. Cezar's smile and comforting personality were always calming both sides. We will never forget Cezar's smile.

Cezar always had a great smile and I truly enjoyed working with him in the good old days. After Microsoft, he became much more of a mentor to me and I always felt he was so kind, respectful, and friendly, I never saw him getting upset about anything that happened at work or elsewhere. He was someone who supported others, listened, and always came up with ideas and solutions for any situation. He was also a great leader, cared bout his teams and every mission. Cezar was a great person and he had a true impact on the life of others. He will be missed.

I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with Cezar as a colleague at Microsoft in the OCS/Lync/Skype for Business team. Cezar was kind, considerate, thoughtful, effective, reliable and trustworthy. He was very focused on his family, proud of his children. Calmly loving life and leading by example. I am deeply sorry to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed. 

Cezar was the kind of person who always left the room in better spirits than when he entered.  It was a pleasure to work with him and a privilege to get to know him.   My condolences to his family.   He will always  be remembered. 

Cezar was an incredibly patient, kind, and compassionate youth soccer coach. Our family appreciated his many, many years of coaching the Sammamish FC. His knowledge of the game, dedication, and bright smile was always a highlight of each fall season. He made a big impact on his teams and community. Our deepest condolences.

I remember the first product I worked on with Cezar. It was a hard assignment that no one wanted to take on. Cezar made me feel so welcomed and helped sort out many unknowns and made sure important changes were shared across the team. He did it all with a warmth and calm that gave everyone confidence even in the most difficult situations. We will miss you, Cezar, but you will be forever in our hearts and an example for us to live by.

“Your friend is your needs answered,” said Khalil Gibran. Cezar was so many things to so many people. He was the humor you need to chase away shadows. He was the motivation you seek to push against a challenge. He was the wisdom you draw upon to accept a harsh reality. He was the patience you invoke to steady yourself. As I brace myself to say a final goodbye, I ask myself what Cezar would have been for me in this dark hour. And I think he would have been the embrace you give to overcome grief. Rest in peace and fly with the angels, my friend, it would appear you are needed elsewhere.

I remember Cezar as a compassionate colleague & friend - always willing to lend a hand with a big smile. He would make time for his team at very odd hours, yet bounce back the next day with zaniest of jokes. I will miss him dearly.

My first encounter with Cezar was when he Interviewed me. Always smiling and always positive. Most Fridays he would wear his Seahawks/Sounders gear on. It was a pleasure working with you . Rest in Peace Cezar. 

Words can not express my  sorrow. I only knew Cezar for about 2 years. So my new found friend and Colleague, I will miss our conversations prior to the team meetings. 

Cezar always had a humorous attitude in difficult situations at work.  One of a kind.  Coincidentally, our sons went to the same pre-school.  Still have a photo of them having much fun on the aquarium field trip.    May Cezar rest in peace.

It was such a great honour and privilege to have worked alongside Cezar for the last few years. It's devastating to have lost a valued colleague so suddenly.

I’ve played soccer with Cezar for many years. Countless topics that we’ve debated and bantered about. Cesar’s intellect, his smile even when not agreeing. His passion. The respect - and being able to call him a teammate and a friend. This is tough - and hearing that Cezar has moved to a different place hit hard. Wishing strength to his family.  And hoping Cezar is now there, challenging many others with his smile and intellect. 

I was so sorry to hear of Cezar’s passing. He was always such a bright smiling face in the hallways of Lync and SfB. The world was made better for his presence. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

He was also a very passionate person. Passionate for family, passionate for sports, passionate for work.

But most of all I remember his for his positive attitude. He alwyays told me : "Good part is ...." and he always found a good part in a situation that looked bad.

Cezar was a good friend, colleague, and teammate. A quiet leader, he always had a clear picture of what mattered most and intelligent ideas on how to get there with that smile on his face. Whether it was advocating for what was right for our customers when we worked on Skype for Business, or how to strategize beating French-Americans for yet another championship in the Microsoft Soccer league, Cezar was a calm voice of reason we all respected and loved. I remember Cesar from the early days of OCS/Lync.  Cesar was such a pleasant colleague - zipping around with purpose through hallways - beaming smiles wherever he went. He lived a full life in these short years. Prayers for him and condolences to the family on this untimely loss. 🙏🏼

Este momentul in care acceptam greu vestea. De la zâmbetul cu care ai avut grija sa ne răsfeți pana la “stii ce s-a întâmplat? Cezar…” este o distanță uriașă, maxim emoțional in ce putem trai, greu de acceptat. Rezultatele de la Olimpiada de fizica, meciul din curtea școlii, glumele nesărate… toate sunt amintiri, așa cum cu maxime regrete, in sufletul nostru, sunt si toate cele care nu am reusit sa le facem impreuna. An amazing friend, colleague, team captain and community soul.
That's what Cezar was for a lot of us over the years.

*** I have known him ever since high school, with the same friendly smile that he always had on his face. He was also my Bridge partner for over20 years now, a game in which reading each other's mind is key and takes you to a new level of human connection. We had many successful days, some "not so lucky" ones but we always had fun.

*** Some of us were fortunate to have Cezar as a work colleague as well, always in the middle of things, holding all his projects together and pushing forward.

*** A few years ago, we discovered tennis as the team activity that can give us a lot of fun, some adrenaline and keeps us exercising too. He was an amazing team captain, being able to balance fun and performance in taking the team to an amazing journey to the Nationals last year.

*** Cezar was also a community soul. He was the glue of the group, everyone's friend, always in the middle. He would take no BS and speak his mind if there were any obstacles in making group decisions. He often talked about "the group tax" that anyone has to pay in order to move forward. He put others ahead of himself for the good of the community. I remember one year when we even discussed pushing him to run for mayor of Sammamish. That's how much we valued him...

Having any one of these around you in life is a blessing.
Having all of them within one person who suddenly left us is a devastating feeling, too difficult to describe with words.
I wasn't sure if there is another world out there but I'm rooting for one now because I really want to meet him again.
Until then, rest in peace Cezar. We will always remember and love you!
I know you'll be watching over your family. We'll be here for them too.



Cezar left us too sudden, too soon. His departure is unbearable for those that have known him as a loving family man and caring human being. For me, he will always be the joyful high-school friend that lit up the room with his personality and his selfless desire to help. 
He was not only a “glass is half full” kind of guy, but he was also always ready to share his optimism with a big smile. This was Cezar!
While his presence will be missed, his generous soul, contagious positivity and endless love for life will be with us forever.
See you on the other side, my dear friend!

I can only see Cezar with a big smile on his face. He always looked to me like a kid in front of a plate of sweets, ready to dig in but also ready to share that joy with the entire world. His life was way too short, but he lived it fully, beautifully, and left everyone who met him richer for the encounter. He’s going to be painfully missed. May he Rest In Peace.
