Harriet Suzanne Oxley

Harriet Suzanne Oxley passed away at the age of 85 on September 4, 2023 in Kirkland, Washington. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Harriet was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Norfolk, VA. She later attended Howard University, and received her master’s degree from American University. Harriet started her career as a microbiologist with the National Institute of Health, and later the Food and Drug Administration. She later worked as a research librarian for the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, and retired from there after 20 years.

Harriet was a strong follower of Christ, and was very active in her church while living in Redmond, WA. She was a member of Columbia Baptist Fellowship in Columbia, MD for over 30 years, where she taught an adult Sunday school class and served as a deacon. She enjoyed going for long walks in the community where she lived, was an avid reader, and loved listening to jazz and classical music.

She is survived by her son, and her 3 nieces and a nephew.

A visitation for Harriet will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cedar Lawns Funeral Home, 7200 180th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
