June Yvonne Morrison passed away suddenly on June 20, 2016 in her home at Redmond Heights Senior Living in Redmond, Washington. June had experienced a long period of declining health due to Binswanger’s disease, a form of vascular dementia. She left us for a better place and will be greatly missed!
June was born in Seattle Washington on April 13, 1936 and lived her childhood and adult life in Redmond. She was proud of being an “Old Time Redmon-ite.” June was a retired bus driver for Lake Washington School District and retired proudly after 38 years with a perfect driving record. She was known as a tough but kind bus driver and cared deeply for the children who rode her bus. She had a special place in her heart for the special needs children she transported near the end of her career.
June loved the water and lived a lot of her adult life on her beloved West Lake Sammamish. When her children were little she would load up the “woody” Ford wagon with a cooler and as many neighbor kids as could fit in with her five children and off to Idlewood Park they would go for the day!
Her parents were Peter Morrison and Thelma Pauline Fry Morrison. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Hodges, her sister Eleanor Sherlock Corello, her infant son Mark David Clapp and her son Todd Byron Clapp. She is survived by her sons Guy, Chad (Wendy) and Scott (her primary care giver) and her daughter, Laurie Clapp Rogers (Rick), her grandsons, Aaron,(Sandy) Stevor, (Mindy) Karl and Stiven Clapp, and granddaughters Michele Clapp Fernstrom, (Doroteo), Shannon Clapp Ferguson,(Tim) Carly Clapp Shear, (Jeff) Katie Rogers and Haley Clapp. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren Alea Rose, Caden, Dakota, Lillian, Maverick, Reynaldo, Randon, Roman, and Ryker as well as by many nephews and nieces and two very close friends, Char Gentry and Gail Nelson.
There will be a graveside service at Cedar Lawns Memorial Park at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 1st, 2016 followed by a reception at the Redmond Eagles Club.
June’s mother was born into a Jewish family and in her later years June became interested in the Jews for Jesus organization. She was also very compassionate towards those with special needs. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her honor to Jews for Jesus (jewsforjesus.org) or to Hope Link at www.hope-link.org.
Arrangements under the direction of Cedar Lawns Funeral Home, Redmond, WA.
