Adam Roman Shuster
December 26, 1927 ~ September 29, 2015
A 60-year resident of Redwood City, CA.
Cherished Father, Grandfather and all around good guy lost his long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Sept. 29th. He was 87 years old. Born in Stanislawow, Poland along with his twin sister Stefania and two older brothers Jan and Fryderyk, he grew up there during World War II where the hardships were many. At the end of the war he made his way to Great Britain and was taken in by an English family who treated him as one of their own. Later he immigrated to California where he was reunited with his Polish family. There he met and fell in love with Antoinette (Toni) with whom he married and had two children, Evelyn and Janette.
He worked as a manager for Raychem Corp (Tyco), in the Thermo-Fit division for 35 years. All who worked for Adam loved his fair and honest demeanor; they would even follow him to a swing or graveyard. He always wanted to help all he met and his positive get-it-done outlook was infectious. He took early retirement when he was 62.
Adam was dedicated to his family. Later in life he took meticulous care of his ailing wife. He had great pride in his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of his Polish heritage and loved being called DziaDzia (grandfather). He often said that family was the most important thing in life.
Gardening was Adam’s favorite hobby and he loved taking care of his treasured 40 rose bushes. He enjoyed watching his SF Giants and SF 49ers play.
Adam is survived by his children, Evelyn (Clark) of Redwood City, Janette (Lutz) of Germany, his grandchildren Melanie, Cynthia, Bridget, Lukas, David, Stefanie, and his niece Losia (Zbyszek) of Oregon.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday Oct. 10th, 2015 at St. Pius Church on Woodside Road.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Adam’s name to the American Cancer Society.
