Adela was born on July 1, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, and was beloved for her lively personality, friendly nature, unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and strong spirit. She dedicated her life to family and friends and worked alongside individuals with disabilities, always offering a listening ear, a warm hug, and steadfast support. She never missed a chance to dress up for Halloween and was always meticulous and thoughtful about the gifts she chose for family and friends. She was known for her delicious salsa, mashed potatoes, enchiladas, meatloaf, pumpkin bread, crack candy, and cherished visits to Morro Bay.
A proud 1964 graduate of Sanger High School, Adela worked as an Instructional Aide for many years, where she formed numerous lifelong friendships. She was a devoted mother, a doting grandmother, and a loving great-grandmother.
Adela truly valued every moment spent with her loved ones, and her passion for her children and grandchildren was evident. She never missed milestones, holidays, or "QT (quality time)" to the store, creating lasting memories with her family. Even in her final moments, Adela continued to give by becoming a lifesaving organ donor. She was the heart and soul of her family and will be missed dearly.
Adela is survived by her husband, Gilbert; her children, Jayne, Gil (Stacy), and Jim; her grandchildren, Lea (Joey), James, Ryan, and Caleb; her great-grandchildren, Kaia and Kian; her brother Ralph (Mary), her sister Tillie; and many other family members and countless friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lily; her father, Cande; and her brother, Mario Lopez.
Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel will provide funeral services for Adela.
A rosary vigil will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2590 E. North Avenue, Sanger, CA, 93657. Adela’s life will be celebrated at a mass on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (2590 E. North Avenue in Sanger), and her interment at the Sanger Cemetery will immediately follow the mass (568 S. Rainbow Avenue, Sanger, CA, 93657).
