Born to John “Jake” and Virginia Mertens and welcomed by her older brother, Scott, Cindy lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and kindness. In 1974, she married the love of her life, Ray Lee Cooper, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering support. Together they built a beautiful family and shared many treasured years until Ray’s passing.
Cindy was a proud and loving mother to Kevin Cooper (Jennifer), Brook Connellee, Jakeob Cooper (Jennifer), and Casey Cooper (Nicole). She was also a cherished grandmother to seventeen grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every gathering, every meal, every conversation, and every hug. Her home was always a place of comfort, warmth, and love.
For 31 years, Cindy faithfully served her community as a postal carrier. She was known for her strong work ethic, friendly smile, and the care she showed to everyone she met along her route. She had a gift for making people feel seen and valued.
Outside of work, Cindy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved thrifting and could turn an ordinary outing into a treasured adventure. She enjoyed fishing, peaceful days outdoors, and creating unforgettable meals for the people she loved. Her cooking brought family and friends together and created memories that will live on for generations.
Above all, Cindy loved Jesus and lived her faith through compassion, generosity, and grace. She was a devoted member of Full Gospel Church of Reedley and deeply loved her church family. Her faith carried her through life’s joys and hardships and served as an example to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Lee Cooper; her parents, John and Virginia Mertens; her in-laws, Virgil and Roberta Cooper.
Though deeply missed, Cindy’s love, faith, and legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Her family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with loved ones and resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord.
