Mario Avila Lopez passed away on May 21, 2024, leaving behind a cherished legacy of love, dedication, and resilience. Born on April 28, 1944, he exemplified the values of service and commitment throughout his life.
As a Vietnam War veteran, Mario served his country with honor and distinction, embodying bravery and perseverance in the face of adversity. His unwavering loyalty earned him the respect and admiration of those with whom he served.
Beyond his military service, Mario was known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit. He spent more than 60 years working in the agriculture industry, approaching every task with determination and instilling in others the importance of hard work and integrity. He was a distinguished leader, mentor and support to countless others he worked with, as he was with everyone he came into contact with in all walks of life.
Mario's greatest joy came from his role as a devoted family man. He shared a deep and enduring bond with his beloved wife, Lupie, and together they raised three children, Lisa Lopez, Lee Ann Lopez-Rodriguez, and Lamar Lopez.
As a father and grandfather, he was a source of guidance, wisdom, and endless love. He delighted in watching his children grow and flourish, always offering encouragement and support along the way. His legacy of love and devotion lives on through his children and four grandchildren: Brandon Rodriguez, Cassandra Lee Rodriguez, Emmanuel Alberto Lopez, and Luna Graciela Lopez, all of whom he adored beyond measure and brought him incomparable joy.
Mario was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Casimiro and Beatrice Lopez, and his sister, Adela Palma Cuevas. He is survived by siblings Armando Lopez, Roy Lopez, Eva Alaniz, Ana Lopez, Yolanda Lucero, Judy Champion, Rosie Martinez, and Norma Zuniga.
Mario loved, and continues to love, all of his family unconditionally.
Mario's memory will be forever cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the power of love, endless generosity, sacrifice, and resilience. May his legacy live on in our hearts, serving always as a beacon of light. His courage, kindness, and unwavering love will be forever remembered.
