Not too many men leave enduring impressions. Alvin is that kind of guy. A true prince! My condolences to Carey and family.

Alvin, when I received the message of your passing I was thrown for a loop. We only lived a few blocks away from each other, yet only got together at work. Our busy lives interfered with after hours of relaxing, smelling the flowers, just having a coffee and shooting the breeze. Your passing made me realize it’s time for all of us to slow down, take a breath and enjoy life. It’s short. 
We had a great time when we worked together, your infectious quiet smile had an effect on many of us. You were a quiet individual that didn’t really share much with me other than general talk but when we talked travel you really came to life. Your love for Thailand was beyond explanation and has made me include it on my bucket list. 
You were a great friend, awesome fellow staff and although I’m retired now,  you will be greatly missed at work. 
Rest in peace Alvin. One day we will hook up again.

Alvin, the news of your death came to me as a big shock. Since I got to know you, you have always demonstrated how genuinely a gentleman man you were. Quiet, gentil and unassuming. Our conversations have always centered on our shared interests in travel- exploring, experiencing and appreciating other cultures have always been some of your hallmarks. Unfortunately, your last request for home cooked jollof rice from my wife was unfulfilled as I was away on vacation. I just returned to hear of your tragic and untimely death. May your gentle soul continue to Rest in Peace. Adieu!!!

Rest Easy my friend Big Al.  We fished, watched sports, partied a little and were partners at work.   I'll never forget the big smile and the chuckle after you spoke or cut a joke.  The Oilers were always number one and although i'm not an oiler fan, i'd come over and watch games with you and the lads.  (dogs).  They were mischevious little buggers but you would reward them with treats which showed me that you were kind no matter what.   You always asked about my son and how he was doing which also made me see that you genuinely cared. 
I'd bring you fish and elk meat and no matter what, you would somehow reciprocate with home cooked food you'd bring for me at work.  It was much appreciated.
I didn't share a lot of your party life, but I know you have tons of buddy's at work that always enjoyed a few with you and others.  Everyone remembers your big smile.
I'll miss you big guy and have found it tough to get you off my mind.  Take care my friend, i'll see you again some day.

I've known you over 30 years Al. There was a short time we didn't talk that much but it was an absolute pleasure reconnecting after I moved to RCC. You always asked how some of the old crew were doing, showing a real interest in the mutual friends we made over 30 years ago. Even before RCC, when I worked down town and had to call the centre, you'd answer the phone not by saying "hello", but "hey Lezzy"...followed by your distinct chuckle. It took me a few times to realize my name showed up because of caller ID. Man I howled every time. I remember running into you around town and we always stopped to chat for a while.  For a quiet man, your integrity, kindness, and respect did all the talking. I'll never forget the trips to the Hat, Eddie calling you "Safeway", and your and Pete's shenanigans. I'll miss you Shave. Rest easy my friend.
