It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Anne Babiak, age 76, on August 28, 2025, in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Born on the longest day of the year, June 21, 1949, in Eston, Saskatchewan, Anne was the cherished daughter of Ingeborg and Sigurd Ostevik. She spent her early years on the family farm, surrounded by the love of her parents and siblings—Karen, Helen, Harold, and Arnold—before the family later moved to Saskatoon.
Anne pursued a career in health care, beginning as a Lab and X-Ray Technician and later expanding her expertise as an ECG/EEG Technician at the Medical Arts Clinic in Regina. After starting a family, she dedicated several years to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother, before returning to the workforce as a Tracer with the Financial Collections Agency until her retirement.
On November 3, 1973, Anne married the love of her life, Peter Babiak, in Kelliher, Saskatchewan. Together they built a life filled with love, hard work, and devotion. They welcomed three children—Jody, Barb, and Bradly; who remained the centre of Anne’s world. Later, she was blessed with four grandchildren Aidan, Samantha, Colton, and Brinna who brought endless joy, laughter, and purpose to her life. Being a grandmother was a role she cherished deeply, and she had a special gift for making each child feel uniquely loved, often with the perfect thoughtful gift or gesture.
As the wife of a part-time farmer, Anne was never one to shy away from hard work. She could be found trucking, combining, tending to the children, or preparing meals that nourished both body and soul. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where coffee at the kitchen table and care packages sent to loved ones became her way of showing love.
Anne’s passions were many. She loved cooking, reading, sewing, gardening and pets held a special place in her heart. Her flowerbeds and kitchen alike reflected the same care and devotion she gave to her family and friends. She was fiercely loyal, always her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest supporter, and she gave generously of her time to school events, fundraisers, and causes close to her heart. She loved hosting events and celebrations even with all of the preparation required; she loved bringing everyone together. Pets were always a part of the family for Anne. Each one was welcomed with the same joy and love as any other family member and their loss was felt profoundly.
Her laughter was contagious, her presence comforting, and her strength unwavering. To know Anne was to know kindness, resilience, and love. Her legacy will live on in her family, her friendships, and the countless lives she touched.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, Peter; their children Jody Yanko (husband Jeremy, children Aidan, Colton, and Brinna); Barb Adamson (husband Andrew, daughter Samantha); and Bradly Babiak; as well as her siblings, sister in laws and their families, plus many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Anne will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina. A Private Family Interment will immediately follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina. Following the Interment, the family will rejoin friends for a Reception in Honour of Anne in the Funeral Home Reception Centre.
