Nov 10, 1945 – Oct 15, 2016
Don passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer. Don was predeceased by his Father Don Sr., Mother Lorraine and Brother Calvin. Don leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 52 years Diane, his daughter Corinna (Mike) Mohr and grandchildren Krista (Shane) Wolaniuk along with great-grandchildren Henrik and Jovie and Lucas Kindred with great- grandchild Scarlet; his sons Don Jr (Tera) with grandchildren Hunter and Hailey and their Mom Audra Kammer (Gary); Randy (Mandy) along with grandchildren Blaze and Nox. He is also survived by his brothers Terry, Tim (Yvette) and Ward (Del) all of Calgary, AB. Don had a large special extended family and also leaves behind in-laws Grant (Terry) Gayton, Joanne (Ron) Saxby, Wendy (Ed) Kopciuch, Nick (Pam) Gayton, Marianne (Lindsay) Albert and Marj Beach and numerous nieces and nephews. Earlier in life Don was very proud to be a member of the Regina Police Service and was the original member of the RPS K9 Division along with German Shepherd partner Blackie where he made many lifelong friends. His passion for dogs and protecting led him to open a business in security called K9 Security and was very successful for many years in the security business and other ventures throughout the years. Don also loved sports and helped coach many of his kid’s hockey and ball teams and took great joy in being able to watch his grandkids play sports and grow up as well. Don loved to have a good time and Diane and he would often be the host (sometimes without Diane’s knowledge) of a family get together, team parent party, Grey Cup party or a party “just because”. Don wanted the good times to carry on and requested there be no funeral service but rather a “party” for family and friends to celebrate his life and share good times, this celebration will be announced at a later time and anyone interested in taking part can email [email protected] for further info.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer SocietyArrangements under the direction of Lee Funeral Home and Crematorium, Regina, SK.
