The seventh of eight children born to John and Lilian Dawson, Don was raised on the family farm in the Fort Qu’Appelle area but lived the majority of his life in Regina.
Don married Barbara May Weiss on August 28, 1965. They were married for 57 years before May passed away on November 28, 2022. After May’s passing, Don moved to a senior’s retirement home and eventually, as his health deteriorated, into assisted living.
Don was predeceased by his parents, John and Lilian Dawson, his siblings Joyce, Jennie, Cynthia, Alwyne, Jim, Doug and Kathleen. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Marje Dawson, and many nieces and nephews.
Don’s two main interests were cars and music. Fittingly, he pursued an automotive mechanic career. Over the years, he owned many vehicles and was meticulous about keeping them spotlessly clean and in excellent working order. He had an inventive mind and a good day for him involved spending solitary hours tinkering in his garage. Don was gifted with the ability to play music by ear. He especially enjoyed playing tunes for his visitors either on his guitar or his keyboard and will be fondly remembered for sharing his musical talent with us.
A private service for family & friends will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Lung Sask, 2308 Arlington Ave., Saskatoon, SK S4J 3L3
