

On Saturday, March 26, 2016, Douglas Lorne Bates passed away at the age of eighty-eight. He was born on September 21, 1927 in Regina, SK. He married Eileen Russell on August 6, 1954. They farmed near Grand Coulee for many years. He was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Maude; his sister, Shirley; and his brother, Dave. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; his sister, Allison (Gerald); children, Lloyd (Debra) and Coleen (Tom); grandchildren, Courtney (Christian), Colton, Carson, Connor, and Preston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doug dearly loved all of his grandchildren and spent many happy hours rocking them to sleep, teaching them new things, and being as much a father as he was a grandfather. Doug spent the last years of his life in Pioneer Village; the family would like to thank the staff of 3W for their love and care. A Graveside Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Assiniboine Ave, Regina, SK on Thursday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of His Life will be held at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, SK following the service. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to a charity of their choice or the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 2550 12 Ave, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
