Edna C Barilla

Edna was predeceased by her parents Isaac and Mary Spiker; husband of 37 years, Larry Barilla; brothers Roy, Kenneth, Belford and Wilbert; sister Lucy; sister-in-law Pat Spiker; and brother-in-law Edward Thibault. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her sister Marie Thibault; sisters-in-law Norma Spiker and Rosella Spiker; many nieces and nephews; sons Allan (Tammy), Mel (Marlyse), and Keenan; daughter Lea Buckner; grandchildren Taylor, Dakota, Brett, Jayla, Sarah, Alisa, Jenna, and Cale.

Edna was born in Kinistino, SK on May 10, 1945. Edna grew up on a farm in the Invergordon District until her father retired from farming and settled into the Hamlet of Crystal Springs, SK. Edna grew up in Crystal Springs and while working at a café met the love of her life, Larry. Married on July 28, 1965 in Crystal Springs, they moved to various locations in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Eventually settling down in Regina to raise their three boys and finally having the daughter that they wanted to complete their family. Edna was a stay-at-home mom. Larry was often away for work, so Edna kept the kids on a straight track and somehow we all survived. Edna loved to tend to her plants and flower beds. Edna loved to host family events with big meals as her specialty. Since Larry passed away on April 3, 2002 Edna has devoted her life to her family and grandchildren, never turning down an opportunity to attend any event the family was involved in. Edna truly enjoyed bowling, floor curling and the +55 Club, she was able to participate until COVID 19 arrived. Edna kept her mind very busy with puzzle books and lots of reading especially during the last four months of her life.

The Celebration of Life for Edna is scheduled for Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 7T1, Donate (saskcancer.ca) or a charity of your choice. After the Celebration of Life and Reception the Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK.
