1927 - 2011
It is with great sadness and deep sorrow the family announces that Eileen Henderson (nee Johnston), passed away peacefully with her loving husband Bernard and two sisters Elva and Vivian by her side on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Eileen was predeceased by a sister Eveline at age 2; a brother Kenneth, age 30, in 1950; and both her parents, Clarence and Nora Johnston two days apart in 1981. Eileen is survived by her loving and devoted husband Bernard (Redmond, Washington), and two sisters, Elva Thomas (Regina, SK) and Vivian Dolton (Vancouver, BC), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Eileen worked at a Soda fountain, ran the public elevator at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital and in the groceteria at Eatons Department Store. While working at Eatons she met the love of her life, Bernard Henderson. Bernard’s Land Surveying Company took them to Redmond, Washington, where they made their home together until her passing. Eileen and Bernard shared a wonderful life together. Their devotion to each other was truly blessed. Family meant everything to Eileen and having no children of their own, nieces and nephews were her children, all 14 of them. Eileen was an extremely kind hearted, thoughtful, loving and giving lady and a Lady she truly was. She had a great spirit and sense of humour. The love she had for her husband Bernard, her family and friends could not be measured. Eileen and Bernard had the most positive attitude towards their faith in God. She succumbed to cancer to be with her Lord. We love you and will always miss you. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, Regina, SK, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
Funeral Director Rachel Bernuy. Arrangements under the direction of Lee Funeral Home and Crematorium, Regina, SK.
