McLeod, Gordon Daniel – On Monday, April 6, 2015, our beloved uncle and friend passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. Gordon was predeceased by his sister Ruth (Edwin) Johnson and parents Astrid and Daniel McLeod. Gordon is survived by his niece Joy (Ron) Zimmerman, nephew Parry (Laurie) Johnson and their children Ron, Daniel and John Zimmerman, Shaun (Sena Choi) and Chantel (Cody Paidel) Mann. Gordon will be remembered with great love and respect by all who knew him. Gordon's generosity, sense of humour, acts of service and compassion for others made him a trusted and respected friend.
Born November 16, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, Gordon grew up in Silver Park near Melfort, SK before moving to Regina with his sister Ruth where he worked as a bellhop at the Hotel Saskatchewan until the end of the Second World War. Gordon then worked for 38 years as an orderly at the Regina General Hospital. He loved his career, and often shared entertaining stories of the antics of patients and his co-workers. Even after retirement, Gordon ceaselessly cared for others, helping to feed or transport other residents at Bethel Manor Care Home until his final days. Gordon was a dedicated son, bother and uncle. Gordon loved to play the fiddle, ride his bicycle, play games, collect coins, stamps, watches and violins and visit friends and family.
A memorial service will be celebrated at Norman Kennedy Presbyterian Church, 5303 Sherwood Drive, Regina, on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronda Bosch officiating. An interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon's memory to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
