James Gatluak Guichwang

December 3, 1975 – September 29, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Gatluak Guichwang , who passed away suddenly at his home in Regina on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the age of 49.

James was born on December 3, 1975, in Naser, Sudan, to Thomas Guichwang and Sarah Nyatut. At a very young age, he immigrated to Regina Saskatchewan, Canada, where he built a new life and became a respected member of the community. He is well known for his leadership roles in the South Sudanese Community in Regina, where he was the chairman and later the president.

James will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, intelligence, and his deep love for family and community. James had a very strong drive for helping others in any way that he could, and he truly touched every soul he met. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his children, Bethany Young and James Guichwang Jr. (Jay); his siblings, Koang, Simon Taidor, Darach, and Nyaruon; as well as extended family and many dear friends who held a special place in his heart.

A funeral service to celebrate James’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2170 Albert St., Regina. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Ave E, Regina.
