Janet passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the age of 82 years. She was predeceased by her parents George & Helen Normandin; sisters Joyce & Jolene and brother Ronnie. Janet is survived by her husband Ken Hopkin; children Randy (Corla) McGillivray, Carol (Jim) MacLaren, Joan Deering, Mary Ann (Rick) Hack, Rachel (Alan) Lovitz, Rebecca McGillivray (Steve Raunest), step-children Linda Hopkin, Susan Hopkin, Steven (Jackie) Hopkin and Stuart Hopkin; grandchildren Duncan McGillivray (Lori Bitinsky), Ian McGillivray (Allison Sackville), Alexander McGillivray (Chelsea Wilgenbusch), Melissa Deering (Vlad Moraru), Scott Deering (Katie Goodman), Jennifer (Brendan) Fehr, Bryan (Kirsty) Hack, Adam Lowthian, Victoria (Paul) McNeil, Jordan Lovitz, Candice Hopkin (Dave Duesterbeck), Chad Hopkin, Brad Hopkin and Erica Peterson; great-grandchildren McKenzie, Kelsey and Owen McNeil, Lucas and Gemma Fehr and Noah Lowthian; brothers Doug (Georgina) Normandin and Gordon (Janice) Normandin, as well as several nieces and nephews. Janet was born and raised on a farm near Wilcox, Saskatchewan. She later moved to Regina to continue her education and attended Balfour Tech. Following that, she married her first husband Robert McGillivray and later worked for Social Services until her retirement. During this time, she met the love of her life, her husband Ken, who she spent 26 wonderful years with. Janet’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important things to her, and family gatherings were the centre of her life. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Hillsdale Street. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to, may make a donation in Janet’s name to The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279-3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
