Leslie James Norbeck passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on November 16, 2023 in Regina, SK, surrounded by his family. Les was predeceased by his parents Otto and Carrie Norbeck, and his siblings Ruth (Bill) Beattie, Reuben (Rose), and Tony (Sharon). Les is survived by his wife Teresa (nee Dewan), his children Allison (Justice) Daka and their children Tyrel and Salifya, and son Preston (Raelynn) and their children Kenlee and Luxton, his sister Louise (John) Beattie and his brother Wayne (Doris), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Les’ parents both immigrated to Canada in the early 1900’s from Sweden and settled in Broadview, SK. Les was born in Broadview on June 15, 1942 and remained there until completion of high school and then moved to Regina, SK. He began his shingling career at the young age of 17 years old with L & B Roofing until he started his own roofing company called Les’ Roofing in 1982. Les impressively continued to shingle until about the age of 75 years old, and yet he still continued to get calls for jobs after that!
Les and Teresa married on December 14, 1968 while living in Regina. Their daughter Allison was born in 1974, followed by Les building their family home in White City, SK in 1976. A few years later their son Preston was born in 1979. Les lived in White City until late 2021, until his move to an independent home in Regina called The Renaissance.
Les loved music and dancing and his favorites were from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. He was a member of The Optimist Club in White City for many years. When he wasn’t roofing or running his kids to their activities, he enjoyed playing softball in the summer and broomball in the winter. After a hot summer day of being up on a roof, you would often find Les enjoying a cold one at the Ice House in White City. Les enjoyed visiting with family and friends and you couldn’t go anywhere without him running in to someone he knew and stopping to have a quick chat.
Les’ family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Pasqua Hospital. As well, a special thank you to all of the staff and fellow residents at the Renaissance, who welcomed Les and made his stay there enjoyable.
A come and go style Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the White City Community Center, 12 Ramm Road from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Flowers most gratefully declined. Those wishing to make a donation, may do so in memory of Les to a charity of your choice.
