The family is particularly grateful for the support of Rae’s long-time friend and partner-in-crime, Allyce Herle.
Born in 1944, Rae was a lifelong resident of Regina. She graduated from Balfour Collegiate and the University of Regina. She spent her career working with municipal, federal and provincial governments as a community worker and policy analyst. Rae was vibrant, glamorous, and fun-loving. She was a fierce and fearless defender of and advocate for social justice causes, equality, Métis/Indigenous and women’s rights. She often challenged others to consider their biases. She inspired women to find their voices.
Rae loved life, her dogs, dancing, travelling and the beach - Regina Beach in particular. She had an ability to connect with people from all walks of life regardless of their status or position. She never hesitated to help a friend, stranger, or animal in need. She was warm-hearted, engaging, at times combative, but always true to her values. One of Rae’s particular hobbies was competitive duplicate bridge, and she was proud of having achieved her Life Master status. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
At Rae’s request no funeral service will be held. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Regina Humane Society.
