1947 - 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Globa on Monday October 14, 2013 at the age of 66 years. Raymond is predeceased by his son Jason, his parents Joseph and Mary, and his brother Edward. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, son Colin (Faye) and daughter Carin (Paul) Massier, grandchildren Vonn Globa and Emersyn Massier, and nephews Kevin and Curtis. Ray was born in the Toronto, Ontario area in 1947 where he lived with his parents and brother until the late 1950s, when the family relocated to Saskatchewan in the Battlefords area where his parents assisted with the family farm and his father operated a barbershop. He began his working career in the late 1960s in the Whitehorse area. Ray and Mary Ann met in 1971 and were married in 1973. By 1974 he had completed his undergraduate degree in civil engineering; he continued on and earned his Masters of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. Ray was employed in the federal civil service (Agriculture Canada - PFRA) as a professional civil engineer from 1974 until his retirement in 2006. In 1995, a transfer with his employment brought the family from Saskatoon to Regina. Ray was first and foremost a husband, a father to his children, and grandfather to two grandchildren who were born in 2011 and in March of this year. He was very proud of the accomplishments which were numerous throughout his career. He had a passion for engaging in political discourse and keeping up to date with technological trends. His sense of humour was as sharp as his mind; he received immense enjoyment from travelling, golfing, visiting with friends and family, and a growing interest in model railroading. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday October 21, 2013 at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend John Weckend celebrant with reception to follow at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 2H8.
