Ray grew up on a farm in Manitoba and attended a one room school where he was always getting himself into trouble by pulling pranks on the teacher. Dad was a joker and quite the storyteller. He told us many stories of him and his twin brother “switching places” to see who would notice, getting into all sorts of trouble and his grandchildren would always enjoy every minute! Dad went to a one room school and eventually just moved on to working in construction. There was no concrete that he did not know how to place or finish to perfection. He had worked in many parts of Canada but his biggest move was to Saskatchewan where he met the love of his life, Barb and decided this was his home. They were married on October 11, 1969 and had their daughter, Teresa, in October 1970. They were blessed again with their son Dean in March 1975. Our little family enjoyed camping, fishing, visiting family in Manitoba and the highlight of every year was going hunting in Redvers with his brother and relatives. That became an even bigger event when Dean was old enough to go and then eventually his grandchildren.
Dad would help at the family farm and loved seeding and harvest. Until his last days, he was still watching the combines out in the field. He never really left the farm.
Dad and mom love to travel with the most memorable being the vacations to Disney World with his kids and grandchildren. He went on every ride and his “babies” loved every minute of it! His grandchildren were everything to him. He was so very proud of all of them and Papa was their world also. There is an emptiness that will never be filled.
As per dad’s wishes, there will be no service and interment will take place at a later date. Friends so wishing may make donations to The Regina Humane Society. Family and friends are invited to leave tributes at Lee Funeral Home and Crematorium.
