On February 17, 2026, Sherry Lynn Gribbon (nee) Forsberg passed away with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her mother Edna Forsberg (nee Anderson) and her partner (John Martin); her father Roy Forsberg, and her brother Brian Forsberg (in infancy).
Sherry leaves behind three children and four grandchildren: daughter Shawna Fitzpatrick (Terry), grandchildren Payton and Shanley; daughter Alison Gribbon (the late Gerry Iglesias), grandchildren Eilis and Michael, and son Pearse Gribbon (partner Danielle). Sherry thought the world of her children and grandchildren, believing they could do no wrong. Her love for them was unconditional and she always looked forward to opportunities to celebrate milestones or be present when times were difficult ensuring they always knew they were loved and supported.
She leaves behind her loving partner David Newton, who shared with her a love for playing BINGO; their biggest jackpot was when they met each other. They enjoyed many adventures travelling around Canada, meeting new friends, visiting family and enjoying their time together.
Sherry was born May 7, 1950, in Brandon Manitoba before moving and growing up in Regina Saskatchewan. She was forever close with, and survived by, her sisters, Karen Hoffart (the late Jim), Valerie Moore (the late Glen), Brenda Pettagrew (Ron), and Colleen Kane (Bruce), along with many nieces and nephews. It was always a joy to see the sisters together as they would bring out the full range of each others quirkiness, and infectious laughter’s would reach new heights.
Mom always enjoyed time with friends. Claire, who Sherry affectionately referred to as Claire-a-bell, was her dearest friend for over 60 years. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends from the breakfast club, her retired lunch crew and many friends over the years.
Sherry had various administrative roles in her early career before spending over 30 years at University of Regina as an academic program advisor for the Facility of Social Work. She took pleasure in the student’s excitement about their achievements. Sherry had a passion for movies, music, and theatre. She had a keen interest in history which was always apparent when crushing David during Jeopardy.
Although it is hard to say goodbye we know she is reunited with her parents and loved ones, happily sharing stories of her life, and watching over those she leaves behind. Thanks, Mom, for all the laughter and quirky traits we have inherited from you. Your love and support will always be felt and remembered.
A private celebration for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
