Shirley Joan West (Ashmore), born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan on January 8, 1934, passed away peacefully at the age of 87, in Regina, SK. on September 8, 2021. She is preceded by the love of her life, her husband Eric West, daughter Debbie West, mother and father George and Molly Ashmore, and sister Marlene Ashmore. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her sister Bev Robertson (Bill Robertson), son and daughter-in-law Derek and Cornelia West, grand daughters Stephanie Lang (Rodney Lang), Rebecca Magnus (Ryan Magnus), Christine West (Corrie Atkinson), and Tessa Arguin (Mark Arguin), and 7 great-grand children Autumn, Brooklyn, Noah, Riley, Atticus, Kayden and Lily. Shirley is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Shirley was born and raised in Indian Head and started working at the local telephone office, before she met and married Eric and they moved to Regina. Shirley started out in Regina at SaskTel and then found her career job working at Woolco in the cosmetic department, where she worked for over 20 years. Shirley and Eric had two children that kept them on their toes while working full-time. There was never a dull moment. Her favorite hobby was her regular Bingo nights with her closest friends, which she enjoyed for decades. Following Eric's passing she volunteered regularly with the Parkinson's Society to keep herself busy and give back.
A special thank you to the staff at Harbour Landing Village, for their care and compassion with Shirley in her final months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzeimers Society.
