He left the farm to pursue a career in logging, road construction and then at Hudson Bay mine. After leaving Hudson Bay mining, he worked a few years at Midwest Drilling. There he travelled many communities in Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He reminisced about these memories often. When his father passed away he came back to run the family farm. During this time, he purchased a backhoe which he then contracted jobs to work from home.
Although he was quiet and kept to himself, his friends and family knew him as funny, hard working and very honest. His compassion for animals shone brightly. When he was no longer able to look after the large animals, his attention was focused on the small animals. As his health declined, he focused on feeding the wildlife, both on the farm and at his apartment in Yorkton.
He leaves behind his daughter Norma Pronteau; her husband Wayne; granddaughters Hazel; and Autumn, sister Marian, Marvaline, Polina.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Endeavor Golden Age Community Centre on September 27, 2025 at 2:00 pm.
