Wendel Benedict Lockert

December 13, 1926 – March 30, 2013

Wendel passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2013 with family by his side at the age of 86 years. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob & Elanor, first wife Josephine, second wife Leonna, sister Anne Kary & brother Roy. Wendel is survived by his children, Gerard (Jan), Brenda (Ernest) Gauld, Jacqueline (Bryan) Schaeffer, Tim (Jan), Murray (Gerri), Clifford (Corinne), Kathy (Allan) Basnicki, Keith (Wendy), Maureen (Don McCarron), James (Wanda), 26 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, Leona’s children and their families, brothers Henry, Ben & William(Marcella), sister-in-law Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. Wendel farmed for most of his life, moving to Vibank in 1986 and then later moving to Regina. He loved gardening, composting, singing and dancing, and especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wendel’s family would like to thank the doctors & staff of 4B at the Pasqua Hosptial and 6F at the Regina General Hospital for their care & compassion during his stay. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Avenue, Regina SK at 7:30 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St Paul’s RC Church, Vibank, SK at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Vibank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
