He was the son of the late James H. Cooper and Florence Cooper (Robertson). He was born in Reading, Pa., and at an early age left and resided in New York.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Robert Phifer of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; his 2 daughters, Sandra Boswell of Boston, Mass., and Tonja Cooper of Bethel, Pa.; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his 3 sisters, Ethel Jenerette of West Reading, Pa.; Dolores Atwater Booker of Sinking Spring, Pa.; and Jessie Prentice of Philadelphia, Pa. There is one daughter-in-law, Tammie Phifer of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and one brother-in-law, Charles Jenerette of West Reading, Pa. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be 9-11 a.m. in the funeral home.
