Barbara Sharae (Jenkins) Davis,54, of Reading transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday,October 21, 2020. Born August 07, 1966 in Baltimore City, Maryland, she was the cherished daughter of Hildler Jenkins and the late Ruth Barbara (Winegan) Jenkins.

Barbara was educated in the Baltimore public school system. In 1984, she moved with her family to Reading, PA. Her love for children landed her a part time job at a day care center. She later accepted a position at CNA Insurance where she met her former husband, Ernest T. Davis II. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Nehemiah and Amanda Davis. In 2017 and after 29 years at CNA insurance, Barbara stumbled upon her passion for caregiving. This passion ultimately led to a promotion as Resident Wellness Coordinator at Columbia Cottage in Wyomissing. PA. Her enthusiasm for her position exceeded beyond the role of her job. In lengthy conversations, she shared her love for the job with family and friends. It brought her great joy to care for the residents, listen to their stories, and engage in conversations of faith.

Barbara was a faithful member of Washington Presbyterian Church in Reading, PA. where she served as; Clerk of Session, Liturgist, Psalmist, Elder of Church, and helped with the kitchen ministry. Barbara’s purpose in life was achieved in her devotion to her faith. She was prayer warrior, spending as much time as possible in prayer for her family and others. Barbara cherished her church family and the opportunity to serve in the house of God. Our sister loved singing songs from the church hymnal and listening to Christian radio stations in the car. Although she could not read music notes, she always managed to start the song in soprano and end on an alto note.

Barbara enjoyed her morning coffee and sister vacations. However above all else, she treasured the special times she shared with her children, loved ones, and friends. Everyone who knew Barbara commented on her smile and easy-going nature.

Barbara's spirit will be carried on by her father Hildler Jenkins, of Reading; 2 adult children Nehemiah and Amanda Davis, of Reading; grandson Zachariah Davis; 2 sisters; Vivian Freeman and her husband Theotis, of Baltimore, MD, Terrie Jenkins, of Reading; 2 brothers Theron Jenkins and his wife Simone, Baltimore, MD, Darryl Jenkins and his wife Amy, of Bernville; nieces and nephews: Otis, Theron Jr. and his wife Jessica, Taylor, Olivia, Ella and Ethan; former husband Ernest T. Davis II and sister-in-law Lorraine McNeil. Barbara also leaves behind 1 great niece , 1 great nephew, a host of other relatives, family and friends to cherish her memory.

Our world has lost such a lovely spirit. She did not wear her troubles or griefs but she delighted in such small things when you had the opportunity to chat. One memory that came to mind was her joy in being hired for the current job and hearing her speak about how she could improve the care she gave to the residents.
Is there anything more like Christ than service to one another? I know in my heart that one of his servants has gone home.
God bless the family and friends who mourn. May you be comforted by the love you shared.
