Frederick "Fred" Richard Heifert

Frederick "Fred" Richard Heifert, 86, resident of Leesport, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at his residence. Born in Reading on August 3, 1934 he was the son of the late Russell F. and Alice S. (Seifrith) Heifert.

Fred was the loving husband of the late Patricia E. (Jackson) Heifert, whom passed in March 2015.

Fred was a graduate of Reading Senior High School, class of 1952. He also attended extension classes at Penn State and The Wharton School. Fred served in the Army and Air Force Reserves and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He also was a volunteer for Penn State Health Saint Joseph's for many years. Fred retired from Lehigh Cement Company, Evansville, PA and was previously employed by the Glidden Company and General Battery.

Fred was a member of Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leesport and a 60 year plus member of St. John's Lodge #435 F & AM.

Fred is survived by son Keith Harry Heifert and his wife Nadine, of Chandler, AZ; 2 daughters Anne Elizabeth (Heifert) Mertz, of Kentucky; Beth Ann (Heifert) Schnader and her husband Dennis, of Reading; and 5 grandchildren Kelli (Schnader) Sarlat, Michael Schnader, Shawn Heifert, Tracy (Heifert) O'Shay, Joshua Steingraber. Fred also leaves behind 12 great grandchildren Hannah, Julian, Silas, Max, Liam, Dutch, Julia, Jordan, Sadie, Sophia, Madison and Cody to cherish his memory.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, Reiffton. Graveside inurnment at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton will private and at the discretion of Fred's family .
