Joan E. (Ocksrider) Siegfried, age 87, of Reading, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2021, at Berks Heim Nursing Home. Born on April 9,1933 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Elery and Catherine (Spuhler) Ocksrider.
Joan was the widow of Leland L. Siegfried, who passed away in August 1978. She was also predeceased by a sister.
Joan was baptized in the Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. She attended the Reading School District and volunteered as a Candy Striper at Reading Hospital in her youth.
Joan made a very successful career for herself as a sales manager. She worked at Stanley Home Products for over 30 years, then continued in sales for 5 years with Winn Outlet.
Joan was an active volunteer with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Reading Flotilla Training Base for 40 years. She served in many progressive leadership and training positions, which promoted safe boating in both PA and MD. Joan enjoyed boating and fishing with her husband, family, and friends, in the Northeast, Susquehanna, and Delaware Rivers. She also enjoyed camping at their summer home in Craft Haven, MD. Her other hobbies included cooking, singing, bowling, card and table games, and Island vacations with her daughters. However above all else, she absolutely treasured spending quality time with her family, and enjoyed her pet dogs and cats.
Joan was a hard worker. She had a kind, loving, fun spirit, and was always a friend indeed to others in need.
Surviving are her twin daughters, Denise L. (Siegfried) Damiani, wife of Dino Damiani, and Deborah J. (Siegfried) White, widow of Thomas White. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Mx. J.Tommy White, spouse of Mx. Douglas Anderson, and Dr. David T. White, husband of Mrs. Anne Fazzini.
The family would like to express great gratitude to the entire Berks Heim staff of special angels for the exceptional loving care and compassion provided to Joan and her family through her final years.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, Reiffton. The memorial service and burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park will be private, and at the convenience of the family.
