Mary Helen "Bonnie" Mertz 84, of Muhlenberg Township passed away Saturday September 15, 2018 in Berks Heim. She is survived by her husband Herbert C Mertz who shared 51 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her first husband Charles Pott.
Mary was born in Lancaster on October 31, 1933 a daughter of the late John Paul Bowman and Catherine (Sullenberger) Pott.
She was employed by Bell Telephone in Lancaster as a switch board operator for 10 years and then Met-Ed in the clerical department for over 10 years retiring in 1996. Mary was an animal lover, enjoyed going for Sunday drives, an avid reader, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Also surviving is her 2 daughters; Carol J and her husband Bruce Quillman of Laureldale, Marci and her husband Timothy Malak of Mohnton, her sister Patricia May of Lancaster, 4 grandchildren; Christopher Quillman, Brittany Quillman, Christopher Malak, Sean Malak, and her future great granddaughter who is due in December.
Services will be Friday September 21, 2018 at 1030am in Auman's Inc Funeal Home, 390 W Neversink Rd., Reiffton. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be Friday 930-1030am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc., 399 Market St., Suite 102 Phila., PA. 19106.
