Carol Lorraine Frederick

Carol Lorraine Frederick passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington. A graveside service and reception will be held on June 6th, 12:00-3:00pm at Greenwood Memorial Park & Funeral Home, in Renton, Washington.

Carol was born in Bottineau, North Dakota on October 24, 1954. She grew up in Renton, Washington and graduated from Renton High School in 1972. Following graduation, Carol attended Western Washington University where she received a degree in Physical Education and a minor in History. For several years, Carol was a substitute teacher in the Renton School District as well as head coach for the girls’ soccer and softball teams at Lindberg High School. In the early 1980s she pursued an associate’s degree in computer programming, and after graduating, worked for Boeing Computer Services Company.

After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was 18 years old, Carol lived a relatively symptom-free life until her late 30s. Eventually, the progression of MS forced her to retire from Boeing. Even though MS made daily life more complicated, Carol never lost her sense of humor or her smile.

Carol had a keen interest in genealogy before it was popular and available on the Internet. She had notebooks of handwritten letters and documentation she compiled, along with her mother, from family trips to North Dakota and Minnesota. Carol was also interested in photography, video games (the earliest version including Pong), and the Mariners. She enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with community members at the local Eagles and Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) clubs with her father. However, Carol’s greatest joys were her poodles, first Kobi and then Coco. They both provided her with great love and companionship.

Carol is survived by her sisters Colleen (John) Marinkov, Cami (Steve) Reinke, and brother Douglas (Veda) Frederick. She also has 6 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Lorraine Frederick.
