Elwood entered this world on July 3rd, 1951, to Elwood Otis Evans and Odie Jean Parker in Fort Worth, Texas. At an early age, he was determined to live his life his own way.
In 1957 he moved to Washington State with his mother and siblings. He graduated from Newport High School in 1969. In 1974 he wed his high school sweetheart resulting in the birth of his only child, Alitza Evans. To support wife and daughter, he entered the Electrical Apprenticeship program and shortly afterwards became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.). He excelled in the apprenticeship program and realized his passion for the electrical trade. His profound love for his profession and the I.B.E.W. brothers and sisters grew for many years and like his own family. Many people knew him by his nickname “Woody”. Elwood became a union steward in 1989 with I.B.E.W local 46 and worked within the union for almost 50 years. He was working up until his passing.
Elwood was a religious man and made sure to study the Bible and devotionals daily. He strongly believed in protecting his home and loved ones. Elwood loved being outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He was a kind man who loved his family and his friends. He believed strongly and always loved to help others in need.
Elwood passed peacefully in his home October 19th, 2023. He will eventually be joined by his mother Odie, father Elwood, sisters Arreva and Earnestine who proceeded him in death. Elwood is survived by his brothers Larry Crawford [Teresa], Robert Parker [Christine], Alonzo (Curtis) Crawford [Madeline], Elton Evans [Sharitta], daughter Alitza Evans, nieces Cheri Strong, Dona Edwards [Troy] Nikki Brooks, Angela Parker, Brandi Simmons [Darrell], Ashanti Crawford and nephew Louis Crawford, He will be missed by many family members and friends.
Elwood is headed home to be with our Lord.
