

Gladys accepted Chris at an early age. She enjoyed singing in her church choir. As well as singing with her family as a group that included two sisters and a niece. They sang in various cities in Tennessee.
Gladys moved to Seattle in 1950. Shortly after arriving in Seattle. She enrolled in Edwards’s school of Beauty. After graduation she worked at different shops. She later opened her own shop in the Mt. Lake area. She later moved the shop so that it would be more convenient for her clients. Towards the end of her career she enjoyed working at her niece’s shop.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband John Griffin, her daughter Ollie Sanders, her son Ronald Griffin, and grandson Gary Sanders. Also preceded in death by parents Lee and Rena Barfield. Brothers Winston Barfield, Veton Barfield, and John Lee Barfield. Sisters Anna Tate, Surnela Manson, Jimmy May Springfield, Camille Gillum, and Bernice Catron.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memory granddaughter Stacie Sanders of Seattle, WA, great grandsons Jaylen Jones and Javaun Jones of Seattle, WA. Great granddaughters Shanice Sanders and Alexa Sanders of Seattle, WA. Great great granddaughter Jimice Carter and great great grandson Logan Downs of Seattle, WA. Also sisters Delcene Hayden of Seattle, WA and Frankie Lou Catron of Memphis, TN.
