

J. Russell “Russ” Garman, 81, passed away October 8, 2015, surrounded by family after a valiant battle with cancer. Russ was born in 1934, growing up in Jones Creek, Maryland, where he received his commercial crabbing license at the age of twelve. A veteran of the Korean War, Russ settled in the Northwest where he enjoyed boating in the summer and skiing in the winter. Russ married the love of his life, Linda, on July 7th, 1979, residing in Renton, WA and working in sales. He retired to his favorite place in the world, Lake Cushman, WA, where he served as head of security for several years and enjoyed crabbing, fishing and golfing. Born with a diligent work ethic and a contagious sense of humor, Russ was loved by all who knew him. He will truly be missed by many friends, family and the local wildlife, whom he adored.
Russ is survived by Linda, his wife of thirty-six years, his son, Kurt (Karna) Garman; his daughters, Lori (Clint) Crain and Thérése (Tim) Woozley; step-children Tracy (Rick) Koloske and Sean Triplett; and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Laura Garman, and siblings Jerry Garman and Mary Piper.
A military memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 1:00pm at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, WA. A celebration of life will be held at Lake Cushman at a later date.
