Kenneth LeRoy Roger of Renton, WA, passed away on May 5, 2025, at the age of 85. Born and raised in rural Kansas, he graduated from Chase High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from The University of Tulsa and a master’s degree from Wichita State University, both in aeronautical engineering. His passion for flight and innovation led him to a distinguished career spanning nearly 35 years at The Boeing Company, with contributions in both Wichita, KS, and Renton, WA.
Ken is survived by his brother, Jerry (Tetyana) Roger; his daughters, Pamela (Edward) Laborde and Shelley Smith; his grandchildren, Joshua (Jennafer) Smith, Mark Laborde, and Matthew Laborde; and his great-grandson, Jayce Smith. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana C. Roger; his parents, Lottie Ellen and LeRoy Roger; his sister, Mary Corman; and his infant son, Mark.
Ken was a radiant presence in the lives of all who knew him, illuminating even the darkest moments with his sharp wit and delightfully unpredictable humor. He found great joy in music, especially singing in the choirs of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Wichita, KS, and First Congregational Church in Bellevue, WA.
A memorial service celebrating Ken’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7th at 10:00 AM at First Congregational Church, located at 11061 NE 2nd St, Bellevue, WA 98004.
