Martha Mae (Polic) Hall, a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. Martha was born in Seattle, Washington in 1935 and went to Franklin High School where her academic success granted her an early graduation and scholarship to University of Washington.
Martha chose instead to devote herself to family life and married Robert Hall in May 1953, subsequently having three children (Debbie, Doug, and David) together. She worked as a biller for various truck line companies, including O.N.C. Motor Freight System, Consolidated Freight (CF), Yellow Truck Lines, and Peninsula Truck Lines, where she finally retired at the grand age of 85. Martha demonstrated an incredibly strong work ethic and approached her responsibilities with care and diligence.
Martha and Bob divorced in 1971, and in the late 1970s, she moved to California where she lived between Sacramento, San Francisco, and Redwood City for over a decade. While living in Redwood City, Martha began guardianship of a two-year-old (Ernesto) who she would continue to raise after moving back to the Seattle area around 1992. Also, during this time, Martha helped to take care of her mother, as well as her daughter and two grandchildren, all while working the graveyard shift. Talk about dedication!
Beyond her career, Martha enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She was an avid reader and found joy in walking, gardening, classical music, animals, shopping, holidays, and helping her family, as well as consistently donating to various organizations and non-profits. She will be remembered fondly for her warm smile and eyes that sparkled whenever her loved ones came into view. Martha was a solid foundation for those that needed her and helped shape her world with generosity and everlasting support.
Martha is survived by her sons Doug, David, and Ernesto; grandchildren Heather, Jeff, and Kelly; nieces Lyn, Gayle, Geri, and nephew Greg. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie; father, Frank; sisters Marjorie and Fran; stepchildren Gale and Donald; daughter, Debbie; and grandson Brett. She is interred at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Washington (Cedar View III Mausoleum Niches Row 3 Tier C Space 5).
