Napa was born in American Samoa on August 9th, 1969 to Pa’u Tautua and Leua Keni Satele from the village of Fagasa.
Napa contracted meningitis at infancy and wasn’t expected to live but God had other plans. He happily spent all of his childhood days basking in the tropical island sun, swimming everyday except Sunday(it was forbidden)
running up and down hills, climbing trees, falling off trees, chasing frogs and getting dirty. He was quite an active child and kept our mother busy.
Napa attended Le’atele Elementary and after graduating from Samoana High School, he moved to Washington State to be with family. Shortly after arriving, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. This did not prevent him from working a full time job(mostly alongside our oldest brother)and living a normal life. He worked at Umberto’s Restaurant for many years as a dishwasher/prep cook in downtown Seattle across from the now gone Kingdome. Second only to his family, Napa was in Love with the Seahawks! This was his dream-job! Low pay, no benefits BUT, The excitement of home games was all worth it! Napa also worked at Ace-casino and Riverside Inn. He was loved and cherished by his co-workers. Eventually, his mental capabilities declined over the years and he was diagnosed as “mentally challenged” and couldn’t work anymore. Although, he was still Our same Napa. Our Gentle, Loving and The Most Humblest person we’ll ever know on this side of life. He was the most grateful person you’d ever meet! Napa helped raised his many nephews and nieces. And he got the chance to spend three months on a summer road trip with ALL of them, zig zagging in a motorhome across our Beautiful America.
On Sept 5th, Napa was admitted to the hospital for covid and sadly passed away due to complications from the virus. Napa is preceded in death by our Beloved parents and Our Sweet Mikey and our Dearest sister Tauava’e(Va’e) Tautua Tufugafale who recently passed on September 18. He is survived by his older brothers, Lameko Tautua, Ropati Tautua, and Keni Tautua. Sisters Merina Correa, Matalena Tautua Jantoc, Tiresa Tautua, Ramona Tautua and Lena Vui. His many nephews and nieces he lovingly and patiently helped raised.
We thank God for your life and for entrusting you in our care. You were so special to us our dearest Napa! Your family will miss you all our days! I want to thank my family for all your help caring for Our Napa. I couldn’t have done without you! I love you, Napa! I will miiisss you my Dearest, Sweet Brother with every breath I take.
