On the evening of Saturday, July 2, 2016, Rickey LeCarter Brown proceeded to his final rest in Renton, WA. Rickey ascended to peace and comfort surrounded by family and loved ones.
Rickey L. Brown was born on Thursday, December 16, 1954 to the late Velma Brown in St. Louis, MO. The third child, and second son of a hard-working single mother, Rickey showed determination and strength from a very early age.
At 18, after graduating high school in Metropolitan St. Louis, Rickey joined the United States Airforce to serve his country. During his time with the United States Airforce, Rickey served as a USAF Pilot and airplane mechanic, flying supply missions across South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and a host of Southeast Asian countries.
After completing 4 years of service to his country in the Airforce, Rickey joined The Boeing Company as an airplane mechanic. In 1983, Rickey left the Boeing Company and began a long and illustrious career as a Metro Transit Operator for the city of Seattle, and King County. Over his more than 33 years with the City of Seattle and King County, Rickey drove and joyfully interacted with thousands of customers on his multiple routes.
An avid football fan and supporter of the Seattle Seahawks and the St. Louis Rams, as well as a die-hard Trekkie, Rickey loved to spend his time watching both the NFL and Star Trek, and all things Science-Fiction related, with his friends and family while discussing the philosophies of life. Always full of love, laughter, joy, and energy, Rickey warmed the air and filled the space of any room that he was in.
Rickey is proceeded in death by his sisters, Deleria (d. 1993), Lynne Renee (d. 2001) and his mother Velma (d. 2004). He is survived by his 3 children, daughter Divai A. Brown of New York, NY, son LeCarter O. Brown of Seattle, WA, daughter Levera H. Brown of Seattle, WA, and one step son, Leon Postlewait of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by his brother Charles Winters of Augusta, GA, and his significant other, Keyahana Miles of Renton, WA; as well as a host of beloved family and friends.
