

Rose Mae was born on May 1, 1928 in Foxholm, North Dakota. She was born to Christ and Johanna Christenson who came to the United States from Voersaa, Denmark. She departed this life on Friday, February 14, 2014 at home surrounded by family members and loved ones.
Rose Mae graduated from Tioga High School in 1946. She married Maynard Orville Svor on July 4, 1948. They later moved to the Pacific Northwest and started their new life in Tacoma, Washington. She worked as a secretary at Boeing for several years until she became pregnant with their first child, Diane. Rose and Maynard built their first home in Renton, Washington finishing it in 1954.
She was active in the school PTA, Bethlehem Lutheran Church and also enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, dancing and playing cards with friends.
In 1963 Maynard and Rose adopted their only son, Maynard R. Svor as a young baby. Three years later, they adopted another child whom they named Leitha Renee Svor. Rose Mae proudly took pride in taking care of her new family. She continued doing so until Randy and Leitha were in High School. This is when she started working at J.C. Penney as a secretary for the next eight years.
In 1981, Rose became a grandmother for the first time. She was exceptional at this job, and enjoyed every minute of this role. She later had nine more grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She lived her life for her family members, including being a personal caretaker for Randy, who had become disabled from a previous accident.
Rose was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Erica Rose Green on August 29, 2013 and Maynard Randall Svor on January 7, 2014. They are now together in peace.
Rose Mae is survived by her husband, Maynard O. Svor of 65 years. She is also survived by her sister, Edna Lester of Tacoma, Washington and brother Clarence Christenson of Baton Rouge, Lousiana. Her children: Diane Potts (Ron Potts) of Gig Harbor, Wa and Leitha Svor (Al Green) of Wasilla, Alaska. Grandchildren: Anthony Spring, Angelina Helmick, Shaun Green, Scott Green, Arielle Potts, Jasmyn Green, Jacob Potts and Victor Potts. Great-grandchildren: Paxton Spring, Marlee Rose Spring and Iris.
Rose was a Breast Cancer Survivor and walked in American Cancer Society's "Relay For Life" alongside of her granddaughter, Angelina, who is also a Cancer Survivor of Leukemia.
