Zenaida "Zeny" Guce Christman

Zenaida "Zeny" was born December 3, 1942 in San Jose Batangas, Philippines. She was one of seven children. "Zeny" attended high school at St. Joseph Academy and then went on to earn her BS is education from St. Bridgette College. Mom became a Teacher and treasured teaching many kids with her Aunts at the local school. Mom took care of her family and did her best to provide for them.

Mom then moved to Papua New Guinea where she would continue teaching. She met Juanito and they married 1983 she gave birth to her only child Archimedes Nino Alnas in 1984. Two years later they would move to Australia in 1986 where Juanito Alnas would be diagnosed and later pass away from bone marrow Cancer. Zenaida persevered and raised her son on her own before more family moved to Australia.

In 1994, Zenaida moved herself and her son to start a new life here in Seattle Washington. This was a new start and a chance to better their life. Zenaida worked as a Care Giver at her cousin Amor adult family home. There Zenaida would find her next passion, the elderly care. In the summer of 1998 she began a courtship with a gentleman by the name of Merlin Christman. In the summer of 2000 they were married. Soon after she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She fought bravely after the surgery was a success. Months of chemo and radiation kept her bald and thin, but not a day went by that she would let it shake her faith in The Lord.

In 2003, after being told that her cancer was in remission Zenaida with the help of Merlin fulfilled her dream of opening and running an Adult Family Home. Mom's passion for the elderly was very clear in her mission to provide the best care

to them. She ran her life and home with faith and love. In the fall of 2008 Zenaida again would be diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. All though visibly shaken she held it together and trusted that her doctors and her faith would get her through. She went to through another grueling and intense recovery and no more than 2 years later was given a clean bill of health. She was again a Cancer Survivor.

In the summer of 2011, she was overjoyed to witness the Marriage of her son to Michelleann Bonoan. She gave words of wisdom and dance the night away. Truly a blessing to be able to dance with her son during the Mother Son dance "she made it". September 2012, another blessing came along in form of her Grand Daughter CamilleAva. Zenaida was now a grandmother. She took the role with such pride and cherished every moment spent with her.

In November 2012, mom was diagnosed with Bone marrow cancer her third and what would be her final bout with Cancer. It devastated her but it again never shook her faith nor her love. She battled for 8 months never leading on to others that she was sick or in pain. The last 2 months were the hardest as she came to grips with her own mortality. She prayed everyday and found comfort in the thoughts and prayers of her church family and friends. She was brought home on Tuesday July 30, 2013. She fought to the very end, mom was received in into the loving arms of our Lord on August 1, She is survived by her Husband Merlin Christman, Son Archimedes Alnas, and grand daughter Camilleava.

Through out her life her faith never strayed no matter how dark the situation. Her love for her family was known with how generous she was for many years with out question. Zenaida lived a storied life and at the center of it all was The Lord God.
